Welcome! We are glad you have decided to check out First Presbyterian Church. It’s not always the easiest thing to visit a church for the first time, but we hope you will feel comfortable and welcomed.
Here is some information to give you a good idea of what to expect on a Sunday morning.
The basics
Our worship service begins at 10:15 am on Sundays in the sanctuary, or on Facebook and YouTube, and lasts about an hour.
The service is fairly traditional in its liturgy and hymns, while at the same time incorporates variations and creativity in our worship and music.
Communion is celebrated during worship on the first Sunday of the month.
After the worship service, all are invited to stay for refreshments in the Welcome Hall, where you will find a warm welcome.
Adult Sunday School meets at 9:00am in the church library.
Ministry with Children (K–6th Grades) meets at 11:30am in the Fellowship Hall.
Youth Group meets at 4:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall.
Covid-19 Update
Currently, masks are optional. Our Healthy Church Team will continue to monitor our community risk according to CDC guidelines, and make recommendations as needed to our Session.
Where is the church located?
Our address is 901 NE J Street, Bentonville.
We are just north of the Amazeum and the entrance to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
Arrival and parking for bicycles and cars
There is plenty of parking for cars, with visitor spaces as well as handicapped spaces available. There are no steps to navigate.
If you are riding your bike to church on our community trails and sidewalks, we have a bike rack for you near the main entrance on the south side of the church.
As you enter the church, you will be welcomed by a greeter who can direct you to the sanctuary.
Our ushers are there to hand you a bulletin and answer questions you may have.
Worship bags are available for children with age-appropriate activities like coloring sheets.
What about the children?
We welcome children, their voices, and their wiggles as part of our corporate worship and life as a church family. We believe that children learn about worship by participating with the adults who care about them.
There are also additional options for children on Sunday mornings.
-There is a children’s message during worship. -Worship bags with age-appropriate activities and a children’s bulletin are provided during services.
– A nursery is available for Infants to 5 year-olds, staffed by professional childcare workers and church volunteers, from 9:00–11:30 am.
– There is also a “cry room” next to the sanctuary with comfortable rockers, where adults can still see and hear the worship service.
Do you offer Sunday School classes?
Faith Formation classes provide an opportunity for Bible study, discussion, community building, and making new friends, no matter what your age or stage of life.
Classes for adults meet at 9:00am in the church library, as well as opportunities for special classes throughout the year on Sunday afternoons and some evenings.
Faith building for K–6th grade is offered weekly after worship from 11:30-1:00pm during the school year, with lunch, a scripture story, and activities. Special activities are offered throughout the summer.
Faith building for 7th -12th grade is offered through Youth Group, which meets weekly on Sunday afternoons from 4:30-6pm during the school year. Special activities are offered throughout the summer.
