Welcome to First Presbyterian Church! We are a community of people who live with joy and gratitude for God’s love in Jesus Christ – a love that values and accepts every person as a beloved child of God. We actively seek to share God’s abundant love by welcoming, serving and caring for others in our community and world.
Our congregation of about 600 people includes those who are new to Northwest Arkansas, and people who have lived here for a while.
We value the sense of community we share, and we nurture relationships among all generations as we love and support one another in the “mountains and valleys” of life.
We are committed to our community, serving our neighbors and being engaged in our common challenges and hopes.
We appreciate worship that connects faith with everyday life, feeding our hearts and minds while being rooted in the Reformed tradition.
Faith formation for all ages is important to us as we seek to know and follow Jesus throughout our lives.
We rejoice in the fact that we come from different backgrounds and experiences, that questioning is okay as we learn and grow together, and that all are truly welcome here.
We hope that you will come and grow with us in faith!
Our Mission: Trusting, Growing, Caring, and Serving Together in the name of Jesus Christ
The mission of First Presbyterian Church is to help people:
TRUST in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of their lives,
GROW and mature in their understanding and experience of faith,
CARE for one another, allowing Christ’s love to live in them as we journey through the “mountains” and “valleys” of life, and
SERVE the needs of “the least of these” our brothers and sisters, in the name of Jesus Christ.
What We Believe
“Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives, even as we watch forGod’s new heaven and new earth praying, ‘Come, Lord Jesus’.” —From A Brief Statement of Faith, PC(USA)
We believe that God comes to us with unlimited grace and unconditional love in God’s Son, Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might have abundant life in him, now and forever. We believe that in Jesus Christ, we find forgiveness, belonging, and the power to live in a new way. We believe that God sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, giving us the energy, intelligence, imagination, and love to follow Jesus as his disciples. We believe that we live out our faith not in isolation, but as a community that seeks to embody the love, justice, service and compassion of Jesus. We believe that we are called to be engaged with the needs and challenges of our community and world in ways that make the whole human family more just, loving, and whole.
We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA), and belong to the Presbytery of Arkansas, a regional grouping of over 75 Presbyterian churches in Arkansas. As part of the Reformed branch of Christianity’s family tree, our core beliefs affirm the sovereignty of God, the authority of Scripture to shape our lives, and that we are saved by God’s grace as a gift of God.
